Sport at St Laurence's

Building skills, confidence and teamwork.

At St. Laurence’s, we believe that sport plays a vital role in pupils’ physical health, teamwork, and personal development. Sports at our school offers a wide range of activities to suit every interest and ability, helping pupils stay active, build confidence, and enjoy friendly competition.

Through PE, school teams, after-school clubs, and collaboration with local clubs like Kilmacud Crokes, pupils experience the rewards of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance. Sport at St. Laurence’s is not just about winning, it’s about building friendships, celebrating effort, and enjoying every opportunity to be active.

Gaelic Games (GAA)
Gaelic football and hurling are central to school life. We are proud to have a strong relationship with Kilmacud Crokes, one of Ireland’s leading GAA clubs, which provides the school with access to their facilities mentoring, and opportunities for pupils to develop their skills further.  Pupils of all ages have the opportunity to learn skills, participate in matches, and represent the school in competitions.

Other Sports
Alongside GAA, pupils can take part in many other sports including golf, archery, swimming, athletics and cycling. Each sport is taught in a fun and inclusive way, with a focus on skill development, fair play, and enjoying being active. Pupils are encouraged to try new sports, work as a team, and set personal goals.

Healthy Lifestyles
Sport at St. Laurence’s goes beyond competition. Pupils learn the value of regular exercise, goal setting, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Whether in lessons, after-school clubs, or competitions, every pupil has the opportunity to enjoy physical activity in a supportive environment.
