Our Fifth Class boys have been busy exploring the past through their recent history projects! Each pupil researched a different historical figure, learning about their lives, achievements and contributions to history. The boys really enjoyed developing their research skills, discovering interesting facts and putting together their projects. Our school Green Committee has been busy in the garden since our return to school! The children have been hard at work weeding, sowing bulbs and spreading grass seed. A special highlight was planting a Scott’s Pine, kindly donated by the Tree Council, to celebrate National Tree Day! This week, the boys from St Laurence’s Student Council visited every class to highlight the importance of road safety and remind everyone to always stay alert. They shared important messages about looking left and right before crossing the road, using pedestrian crossings, and wearing helmets when cycling. Our Third Class boys had great fun playing chess with the Transition Year boys from St. Benildus. Some enjoyed playing games together, while others had the opportunity to teach the older boys how to play! It was a wonderful opportunity to share skills, learn from one another and enjoy some friendly competition. Well done to all involved!

The boys from 5th Class enjoyed a great day of golf in Jamestown on Friday. Despite the challenging conditions, they showed fantastic enthusiasm and skill, making the most of their time on the course. It was great to have had so many pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class out training on our first week back to school in preparation for the start of the Gaelic football season. On Friday, 29th June, our school took part in a Wellness Walk to raise money for Breast Cancer Ireland and the facilities at Kilmacud Crokes. The event was held in support of Mr. Garry’s particpation in the Malin to Mizen Cycle. We are delighted to announce that two of our boys were awarded Special Merit Certificates and prizes at the 72nd Texaco Children’s Art Awards ceremony, held in Druids Glen on 27th May. This prestigious achievement is a testament to their creativity, talent, and hard work, and we are extremely proud of their success!

Congratulations to the St. Laurence’s basketball team on reaching the schools’ final yesterday. While the result did not go their way, the team showed great determination and commitment throughout the competition. Well done also to an excellent Ballyroan Boys team on their victory.
