Welcome back everyone. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter break. We have had a very busy week here in Saint Laurences BNS.
On Wednesday we welcomed volunteers and dogs from the Irish Guide Dogs for the blind. It was a vey informative visit and the instructors explained the work that they do and how they help people who are visually impaired or blind. They also showed examples of the training program that they do with the dogs and put on a display of the wonderful work.
Congratulations to our two school chess teams who came 1st and 3rd in a competition this week held in Ballinteer. These competitions are part of our preparations for the All Ireland Chess Schools Tournament which our school is hosting in May. We will be defending our title at this event and we look forward to welcoming students from all over Ireland to our school.
Well done to our junior and senior hurling teams who both played this week and showed their wonderful skills and talents representing the school.
We wish our two school quiz teams, under the guidance of Mr Murphy the very best in the National Finals of the Credit Union primary school table quiz on Sunday afternoon in the RDS. Our students have come through regional and county events to make the final and we are sure they will have a great day.
To help our environment our school installed some solar panels during the Easter break.
Thank you to all who supported our table quiz in the Talbot Hotel before Easter. It was a great night and thanks to the Parents Association for organising.
